In May 2025, the Mamie McFaddin Ward Women’s Center at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth reopened following a transformative renovation, unveiling a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to women’s health.
A Calming, Modern Environment for Care: The remodel elevated every aspect of the Women’s Center to better serve our patients. From expanded treatment areas and a new private entrance to redesigned, serene interiors, the space was intentionally created to provide a calming and supportive environment.
Advanced Technology Close to Home: A highlight of the renovation is the addition of two brand-new, state-of-the-art 3D mammography units, the most advanced technology available for breast health imaging. With these upgrades, women in Southeast Texas now have access to the same high-quality care found in major medical centers, without leaving the community.
“Technology is changing at a rapid pace, and it’s important that our community has access to the best technology, the best people, and the best facilities,” said Paul Trevino, President/CEO of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System. “With this renovation, CHRISTUS continues to deliver that level of excellence.”
Powered by Community Generosity: This $1.5 million project was made possible through extraordinary generosity, anchored by a $1 million gift from an anonymous donor and an additional $500,000 in community contributions. The CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Foundation is honored to have been part of this effort and grateful for the support of the Mamie McFaddin Ward Heritage Foundation, whose legacy has long supported women’s and cancer care across the region.
Honoring a Legacy of Giving: Mamie McFaddin Ward’s passion for science and medicine lives on through her Foundation, which she created to support her community through health care and philanthropy. Today, her vision continues in the Women’s Center that bears her name -providing advanced technology, compassionate care, and a healing environment for generations of women.
